Warpaint – Undertow
Coming from Las Angeles, the band formed in 2004 consisting out of 4 girls. Undertow comes from their debut album The Fool, out on Rough Trade Records, which is from last year. Check out their website to find out what they are up to. Warpaint’s songs are a bit psychedelic, dreamy and hypnotizing. The album gets in your head after a couple of times listening to it. It fits the weather over here in Amsterdam perfectly.
Dazed & Confused is probably most knowned for the version Led Zeppelin recorded in 1969. The track is featured on Mr. Holmes’ debut solo album The Above Ground Sound of Jake Holmes which has no drums on it at all. The meaning of the song was incorrectly interpreted as a song about a bad acid trip. Holmes said this as a reply; “I never took acid. I smoked grass and tripped on it, but I never took acid. I was afraid to take it. The song's about a girl who hasn't decided whether she wants to stay with me or not. It's pretty much one of those love songs”. Next to making beautiful music he’s responsible for the jingles of the US Army in the 80’s, Dr. Pepper and Burger King.
